I admit, I’m guilty of hopping on the Hatsune Miku bandwagon. I was a little indifferent to her until after AX when saw exactly how popular she really got (and one of the artists next to us traded me a Miku print). I actually started sketching this one a month ago, but got incredibly sidetracked with more important matters and drawings. I took a different approach from the Iroha and went for a little thicker inks.
As again, click on the above drawing for a higher resolution.

The sketch was drawn for an extremely talented artist that I mentioned before, Woofy. I actually don’t know much about Salvatore, except she’s from Disgaea; in fact, I’ve never even seen the offical art for her. I based the sketch around woof’s own drawings (which really do have a remarkable similarity to Harada’s. I think I’m starting to become a fan of her, though.
I should get around to coloring this, though I’m thinking of doing some vocaloids…

I am extremely grateful to have met the variety of people who came and visited our table at AX2008. I am even more grateful for those who bought our merchandise, so thank you for yet another great year at Anime Expo.
Those who actually recognized and bought my own posters are my personal champions though.
In short, I throughly enjoyed Anime Expo this year. Thanks goes out the various fellow artists who I had conversations with and art trades with. I can’t plug everybody, but special thanks to o_8 (http://pub.tenkuu.net/) for arranging the gatherings, Woofy (http://corel.leafo.net) and Hai for being awesome bemani fans, Lychi (http://electric-paint.com/) and navfn for giving me a place to sit, the people at kmtplus.net for giving me a Miku Hatsune print, Eikuu (http://www.winternacht.org/) for the (temporary) shirt, and Nick at AI for being freaking awesome at pop’n music.
Also, the character in the picture above is from Disgaea 3, Salvatore, which Woofy and Harada’s presence (I got his autograph, too) have influenced me to draw her.

As Anime Expo is less than a week away, I finally wrapped up the work on our comic and the pictures that I will be selling this year. After working on and off on this drawing that should have been finished two months ago, I also finally completed Iroha. The quality of it is pretty disproportionate to the amount of time I spent on it and I couldn’t come up with a very satisfactory background. Yes, I just noticed now that I did not finish her right handle. The blades also have two separate looks because there was almost 3 weeks of time between working on each.
Also to look forward to is a re-designed version of the Hardcore Synergy poster and this older IIDX Sakura drawing from the winter. Others are again the Fate/stay night b&w cards with a new Rider.

Much like how Mitsuru is what first attracted me to Persona 3, Yukiko is my main draw to Persona 4. I’m a total sucker for yamato nadeshiko. Throw in glasses, and it’s a winning combination.

I was asked a while back to draw up an original character for the Hardcore Synergy event at this year’s Anime Central in Rosemont, Illinois. I’m unfortunately several thousand miles away from the event, but it has a great lineup of Japanese and UK hardcore artists, so I’d strongly recommend attending if you’re anywhere near the area or even remotely interested in J-Core.
As usual, here it is at a larger size.
