The city is covered in fog because I’m lazy
I drew this for a friend who said that he’d like some of my art on his wall.
Coloring backgrounds is a bit of a problem for me– I don’t really have much experience in it. I’m trying to work at it though! Also, I really cannot tell if the colors I chose in general are atrocious or not– I don’t have much of a sense of color. I think this isn’t too hard on the eyes though, right?
Drawing the chain link fence was a pain.

I asked persona for art to put on my wall and then he didn’t do it. I think he might be a terrible person.
Anyway, I like the colors - though I’m not sure they make sense with the natural world? That’s not a problem, but if you were going for that, there probably wouldn’t be so much of a falloff to blue in that sort of arc from the sun… but I really like how that looks, so I dunno. To me it looks like dawn in the top half of the picture, and dusk in the bottom half. Am I crazy?

Also, to make the figure stand out more, you could’ve added brighter highlights to her back, giving a real contrast to the front of her figure and to pop her face out more. Also, adding that chain-link fence shadow to her back along with the bright contrast.
But yeah, the fence worked out well, didn’t it? It gives the image a visual texture between the figure in the front and the city in the background.
Now get started on the Haruhi cover.

that light hitting the top of the wall (under the grating) is mesmerizingly pretty. Your backgrounds are getting really nice. They’re starting to really belong to the character.

I think it needs more bloom and lens flares.
Well, I’m kidding, but this sort of shot would grant some sort of light trickery, wouldn’t it?
