    RIDING SEA CREATURES

You can pick up vegetables, but sometimes you pick out a hidden ROCKET CARROT, which takes you into the sky cloud world where you can collect tons of random shit that makes you fat, and then you get so fat you fall through the clouds and create a shockwave that kills any enemies on screen

The skeleton guy has a sombrero, you can steal it and it makes you run really fast and changes the music to a latin arrangement. During this time, you are more likely to run into Mexican-themed items and enemies.

As an amatuer pixel-artist I approve.

You’re gonna re-work that tileset, right?

These are good ideas! I like the trading her to a friend for the final evolution and various carrot and food-based ideas the most. Please spam more ideas ITT.

Also Fernando: I’m making the engine myself in Game Maker since I wanted the experience of programming all this nonsense. Could I email you for some advice though? I get stuck on all sorts of things often.

    Posted May 29, 2009 at 10:31 am | Permalink

you don’t want to use game maker,
use Flash (for web) or C++ (for pc)

yes, no prob I can help with advice: designing and or programming.

    Posted May 29, 2009 at 10:37 am | Permalink

However if you make the game for web you can easily use the game as an advergame (bring more people to your blog)

and also make money out of it easily using mochiads.com and or flashgamelicense.com

    Posted May 29, 2009 at 10:37 am | Permalink

Yeah, Game Maker isn’t the best but it was the most approachable for me. I’ve already got the basics in place and now I’m working on not making it retarded.

Ive been playing a lot of games people make in game maker, and they can do some really awesome stuff with it, so I bet you can too! I’d like to see this finished! She looks super duper cute. I really like your pixel skills.

You have a squirrel pet who helps you solve certain puzzles and you can a fusion to become a super squirrel for a short period of time.

Have power up collectibles like a shmup with different sets of power and if you take a different kind you start from the beginning.

A ray gun that turns enemies into ducks !

Have unlockables for finishing the game like: concept art, wallpapers, special art and etc.

I mean, if you’re intending to complete the game and actually release it, I think setting up GameMaker to have it running .it or .xm tracker music files would compliment the whole ‘pixel’ aesthetic. You might not want to have 12mb of licensed music attached to this pixel game.

Actually Fernando it wouldn’t be too hard to make that in Game Maker. You couldn’t easily make that using vectors (and really why would you) but it’s still possible…

    *evil zombie ninjas

*rescue kinoku from a boss, pay her to draw commisions, and depending on the commision you choose, is the special attack thing you get.
$25 gets bikini chan oogling her tits and stuns the enemies
$75 gets bikini chan throwing slimes at the enemies
$150 gets bikini chan puking slime on everything.

    *the clouds randomly insult you.

*use voices for conversations, when people are talking, not just text. just use pitch controll and talk rediculously overdramatic. yell at times where it’s completely unneccissary. say crazy things that the text doesn’t.

*all items she uses are retrieved from down her skirt. varying from cupcakes to a triceratops.

*collect enough coins to get the secret pair of glasses. they do nothing, but there’s a cut scene of her putting them on, and she wears them the rest of the game.

I’ve been looking through this, and Fernando is spewing nonsense. GM is just as capable as any other program, only drawback is that it’s slower than C. You could do vector stuff if you really wanted, it just would take more work than with Flash.

try comparing flash and game maker for the cinematics

    Hey Persona
I made a little platforming engine using your graphics
    http://insaneangel-fernando.deviantart.com/art/game-engine-for-persona-124421096

If you still don’t want me to work in the game, I can still make the web version, only if you want to.

i’ll bet you could make the same thing in either engine, but which ever you like better would be faster and smoother. i do think that if you made it in flash and allowed it to be redistributed freely, you’d have more people hosting it on thier site, then if in game maker. flash can even play on several cell phones.
but if you have already got into game maker, just make it in there. then when it’s finished, try to make it in flash (or get fernando to) using the graphics you used in the origional.

this site has royalty free seamless textures for free. i’ve used them in a few projects, and they are awesome. trust me, when you have readily available, you can stay in creation mode. i even have 125 (mostly seamless) textures photoshoped with dirt and stuff. it’s like 8mb if you want it.

Flash is too expensive to get legitimately, unless you know a good open source alternative.

I don’t mean to necropost, but if you’re still messing with it at all, I’m pretty damn fluent in GML. I can get just about anything going. The current engine I have is a platformer with pretty much perfect collision detection and the ability to attack. Problem is I made it in Gamemaker 7 Pro, but it’s only about $20 and you get assloads of stuff to mess with. Gamemaker’s probably the best game creation software if you’re new to game programming and don’t like programming EVERY LITTLE THING in Flash’s actionscript.
