Yeah Im impressed how much of a hit shes been, but I must say after so many rehashings of character models, its good to see something refreashing and new once and awhile. Seriously how many characters have necroraped the Rei Ayanami look?

So, being in the states, and I admit, out of the loop, what exactly is this? I googled it, but seriously, that didn't help much, is she a singer? Anime? Manga? Computer Program? I'm confuzed -.-

Hatsune Miku is a recently released vocaloid (a vocaloid is a synth set to emulate voice) used with music, taking the samples of a somewhat popular voice actor. Her mascot character has been the target of a lot of fandom due to some clever marketing and people doing a lot of stuff with her in doujin albums and videos over nico nico.

I could care less about who this character is...

@Artist
What I do want to comment on is the actual line work. Wow, what a great job, looking sharp!*very impressed*

What kind of software did you use to sharpen the lines up with? Or is it all digital line work?

Thanks for your time.

I used only openCanvas 3 and sketched and inked all from digital scratch. I could go into further details about how I do it, but that's for another day, maybe.
I prefer openCanvas to other software for linework because it is relatively easy to adjust pen settings quickly. Plus, I think it just "feels" a lot smoother to use compared to photoshop or painter.

@Quendan

Thanks for the reply. :)

I was checking out some of the artwork done with oC. Looks like the software is worth checking out sometime down the line. The Event playback feature looks especially interesting.
