Shiny stuff is hard.

Demon queen or something

Tell me how to color shiny things. I don’t know how.

You did a pretty good job anyway.

Shiny stuff depends on what you’re using, and there are so many different methods. I guess you use Corel Painter or something, I’d recommend online tutorials. But I’m sure you already know that.

It’s still good though, who is it? Or is it an original character?

Hunty! How naughty of you! I see you linked to an example of the now perverted Shirow work. His most recent books are a vivid window in to his dirty brain. I prefered his old stuff to be honest, when he was more suttle with his eroticism.

I love Shirow, though he has taken a weird trend of really thin waists and not enough hips…

Haha, Shirow’s work is definitely an example of shiny. I don’t mind his stuff, but I do find some of his works a bit tacky on occasion.

It’s an original character, I guess! I wasn’t putting much thought into it as I was doing it, I just went with it as I was drawing. It actually was supposed to just be a generic warrior girl initially but this is what came out.

I need to learn to put more contrast into my shading. Somehow contrast terrifies me when I’m coloring but then the end result always looks really flat. Huh.

yeah, most of Shirow’s stuff IS really tacky, but I can’t think of a better artist for “ludicrously shiny” (his art book collections are called “Gal Grease” after all).

I like this pic; it reminds me of the cover girl for Guild Wars.

Just dropping the picture into Photoshop and cranking the contrast a little makes it look a lot sharper.

    Thanks for replying Kinuko.

And Ouendan, you’re right… and those Shirow arses… hmmm.
